Mother Nature Knows Best from 1938
The following is a small extract from Grandfathers booklet ‘The Open Road to Health’ which he published just prior to starting up his Herbal Remedy by Post business in 1938.

ECHINACEA This is one of my favourite herbs. It is both antibacterial and antiviral, cleansing the blood of impurities and bringing relief from boils, acne, internal and external ulceration and other skin conditions. Sinusitis, catarrh and tonsillitis. (See also Pets Section). This is excellent when combined with Garlic for chest infections. Boil loz. Echinacea Root in 1 pint of water. Take a wineglassful twice a day. A little of the solution can be dabbed on the external affected part. ECHINACEA TABLETS are readily available now in most health shops and supermarkets and because they contain extracts from the genuine herb rather than a synthetically produced copy they are just as effective as the fresh Echinacea Root. This is something I always have in the cupboard for emergencies.
It often amazes me to think of how this next product Evening Primrose Oil has been marketed in recent years making one to believe it is some wonderful new discovery, when the following extract was printed in the above mentioned book back in the 1930’s.
EVENING PRIMROSE This is a plant that has many uses to travellers but one of the most useful is the oil from the Evening Primrose, it helps the body in its natural functions in the control and regulation of the menstrual cycle, blood pressure, growth, regeneration and skin conditions. This oil is thought to lessen the risk of heart attacks as it contains anticoagulants, people over forty take it to slow down the ageing process. The most convenient way of taking this is in Capsule form again available in chemists, health shops and supermarkets these days.
FEVERFEW This plant is a relative of the Chamomile family and is anti-inflammatory, a vasodilator and also aids digestion. Over the years it has proved very effective for Migraine headaches, it also relieves painful periods and can be taken dried sprinkled on food, in capsule or tablet form or made into a herb tea.
This is just the first of many Romany Remedies & Recipes I will be sharing with you as and when my time permits. If you have any questions or suggestions I'll be happy to hear them. Either leave a message in the Box below or contact me via my Facebook page.
